Topic “Green Bay Packers”

The Lions were Packed up Early in Green Bay Victory.

Of all the rituals that are staples of traditional modern Thanksgiving, 2 of them have been a constant (not counting a visit from or to see that weird uncle that’s in ever y family) -- good food and bad football. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that was ever happy to see such players as QB Joey Harrington, QB Jon Kitna, WR Carlos Rogers or WR Mike Williams fail (although it did contribute to some silly jokes for a few family laughs such as that Charlie Batch was sacked like the turkey when mom brought it from the store).

The home of the defending Super Bowl champs is next on the list for the SoTG and Chris. Does either of them smell repeat? Or is that just the smell of solid defenses?

Stop Blaming the Vikings O-line!

Reports came up on Wednesday, Dec 1st that Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre has begun chanting the familiar mantra of ‘I’m done’. This implies that once again (I believe this is the fifth time since his tear filled press conference in Green Bay, Wisconsin where sports outlets began running week long spots and on-air memorials prompting ESPN’s Colin Cowherd to, albeit jokingly, inform the public that he hadn’t died, just retired).

Cutler's Bears Creep by the Penalized Packers

Dubbed as the oldest rivalry in the National Football League, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears facing off on Monday Night should have been a game I was stoked about as an all-around NFL fan; not to mention a Student of the Game. Two undefeated teams in a divisional rivalry – what’s not to like? In this case, I’m afraid it’s this season’s edition of the Bears completely disproving the saying, “You are what your record says you are” reaching 2-0 on the strength of a bad call that ripped the spine out of the NFL rulebook and a team that was struggling until this week.

PreSeason 2010 NFC North

The NFC North is next on the list. Will the Detroit Lions matter? Can QB Jay Cutler make this the year that the Chicago Bears are for real? Can QB Aaron Rogers continue to improve his play from last year's solid showing to propel the Green Bay Packers to the Playoffs? Or will he be thwarted by QB Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings?

Answers to these and other questions with the SoTG, Weasel, and Chris.

Green Bay Prodigy vs the Viking Hero

While it will not necessarily apply to all those who gaze upon this particular article, the public will be fed and mezmorized by the elements of the story pertaining to former Packer QB Brett Favre playing against his former team at the Metrodome in a Minnestoa Viking uniform for the first time in his last NFL game before he turns 40 years old and think that he was the hero of the game in the Vikings 30-23 division victory putting them at 4-0. But Favre himself was forced to show appreciation to the man who was the real factor, “[DE]Jared Allen is a beast . . . I’m glad we have ‘em”.

While most of the camera crews are parked in Minnesota to track Brett Favre's every move, the SoTG and Weasel will give you FULL coverage of the ENTIRE division.
